First is the lost of a close relative or a love one, someone close to you or someone that has value to you. Loosing someone very depressing facing the reality that you will be able to see that person again and the fact that you will not have a chance to be with that person anymore, in knowing this you become sad and low in spirit. Being depress in the event of loosing someone is a very sad reality. Second is having a dispute with someone close to you. Having an argument is sometimes depressing most especially when the arguments last and you tend to hurt one another through verbally, emotionally, or physically. It is really frustrating to have an argument with someone close to you, you cannot accept the fact that the person closest to you tends to fight you in a way contradicting your idea in result of a conflict or an argument. Third is experiencing physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. It is not that easy to experience abuses in this way experiencing this kind of abuse lowers yourself value, you tend to think that you don’t have anything left in this world and that you would just give up and continue to think that you are worth nothing. Major event that went wrong in one’s life, such as not having to attend your graduation something went wrong on the day of your marriage. Another cause of depression is having a serious illness, having a serious illness most especially illness that have life-threatening is very depressing to think. Knowing that any moment you might pass away and you may die is a cause of a very bad depression in one’s life. And the most common thing is personal issues. Wither it is due to social influences or a rejection from a group or family.

Having a depression is a normal thing in everyone life the key factor to overcome this is to accept the fact and try your very best to recover from it. Think positive always look at the best things in life and you will be just fine.

Dr. John Guthman and his colleagues found that moderate to severe depression had increased from 34 percent to 41 percent among the 3,000 college students whose medical records were analyzed. For their research, Guthman and his colleagues looked at the counseling records of 3,256 students at the private university over a 12-year period, between September 1997 and August 2009. It was found that between 1998 and 2009, the number of students coming into counseling who were diagnosed with at least one mental disorder increased 3 per cent, from 93 to 96 per cent. On the other hand, the number of students who reported having suicidal thoughts after two weeks of counseling dropped from 26 in 1998 to eleven percent in 2009College life may not be the reason for the rise in severe depression, but rather more students are arriving on campus with pre-existing mental health issues, said the researchers who presented the study at the 118th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association in San Diego.The use of prescription medications by students to treat psychiatric illness has also risen significantly over the past decade, the research team noted. Most students were diagnosed with mood and anxiety disorders as well as adjustment disorders or problems associated with significant impairment in functioning.
