Oats are nutritious whole foods which are widely used now a days mainly because of its high nutritive content which is the result of least processing or no refining at all. Oats are foods which is full of proteins and help is body buiding. Oat is a cereal grain that usually has a bland taste. Oat comes in many different forms. Oats provide soluble fiber (called beta glucan) which acts like a sponge during digestion, soaking up and removing cholesterol from the body.
Commonly known as oats, its scientific name is Avena sativa. One of the major uses of oats is, it is used as a feed for livestocks. It is used also for human consumption as oat mean or rolled oats which has many health benefits. Oats are also used in many brands of dog and chicken feed.
Oats, like any other varieties of grains, belong to the Graminae family. Oats are excellent source of soluble dietary fibre. They are derived from natural whole grain. Oats'quality is enhanced further, by mixing it with Oat Bran.
It is believed that oats originated in Bronze Age Europe and since then being used as a staple food for both human consumption and feeding of the livestock. The outer casing of the oat is called the oat bran and it is believed to lower LDL cholesterol levels in blood. Oat is the only cereal containing globulin, legume-like protein, avenalin as the major storage protein in it. It is present about 80% in it. Oats are sown in spring or in early summer.
